My philosophy
Work and having a dog – that’s not always easy to combine, as I know from my own experience. That’s why I want to offer dog owners a species-appropriate, professional and flexible day care for their four-legged friends. The concept is similar to a childcare center: at least once a week – but preferably more often (1–5 times per week). The only important thing is that the dogs see their buddies at least once a week. This way, the group can grow together, everyone knows each other, and there’s no unrest caused by constantly changing newcomers or day tourists.
With me all dogs are welcome, no matter what breed, age, gender - as long as they are compatible with the existing troop. Because this point is central for me: I do not tolerate aggressive dogs or bullying. In Doggie's Place every dog should feel comfortable. Apart from that, however, there are hardly any restrictions; for example, unneutered male dogs are also among my guests. In my group I also have several dogs from animal welfare. Also these animals with partly special needs or still lacking experiences are cordially welcome with me. Only bitches in heat are not allowed to come to me in the HundeTagi during their heat. Afterwards I look forward to them all the more. It is important to me to offer all dogs a species-appropriate, stimulating and fun stay, whereby great importance is also attached to sufficient rest periods. The dogs benefit greatly from interacting with each other. During the walk, individual dogs are allowed off the leash at times, or can romp and play with each other in my large, fully fenced play area. I understand each dog as an individual and therefore always decide depending on the situation and the day, what goes and where I set limits (eg free running).
Since I currently always have interns (training to become animal caretakers), I am able to look after up to a maximum of 19 dogs. However, we usually care for 12 to a maximum of 14 dogs (including our own). This way we can act responsibly and provide individual attention to every guest. In addition, I support the IPT Foundation (Integration pour tous) in reintegration, social inclusion, work training and low-threshold employment opportunities by offering such an integration placement and supervising the person involved. These interns will never go for walks with the dogs alone or leave them unsupervised.
The authorization to care for up to 19 dogs at the location in Avenches was granted by the Canton of Vaud in October 2020 for a period of five years. In mid-October 2025, it was renewed for another five years without any objections and with much praise. The municipality of Avenches has also fully approved the operation of my dog daycare facility.
About me
I am Tanja Stolz, founder and owner of Doggies Place Seeland. I was born in 1973 in Salzburg, Austria, and have been living in Switzerland since 1991. In 2005, I married my husband Christian. Dogs have been part of my life for many decades from playful puppies to calm seniors. Alongside my own four-legged companions, I have welcomed numerous foster dogs from animal shelters and lovingly prepared them for their forever homes. At the moment, Im the proud dog mum of two furry companions: Shoana, a wonderfull Galgo rescue, and Ozzy, a lively Rhodesian Ridgeback puppy who recently joined our little pack. My beloved Pepe, also a Rhodesian Ridgeback, accompanied me faithfully for many years and sadly passed away in early September 2025. He will forever remain a part of Doggies Place and of my heart. This lifelong experience shapes both my work and my philosophy: every dog is an individual with unique needs and thats exactly how I care for and support each one.
Education and Training
With my first own dog, Janusch, a Bernese Mountain Dog, I completed the therapy dog team training and worked with him for many years in this field. As a certified team trainer, I guided and supported several teams during their training and practical work. Together with Janusch, I successfully passed the BH 2 and Sani 2 exams. During my employment with the Swiss Association for the Blind and Visually Impaired, I was able to look after guide dogs during lunch breaks and take them on walks together with my then Rhodesian Ridgeback, Dalton. With Dalton, I passed the BH 2 companion dog exam and attended agility training as a fun activity for both of us. With the duo Pepe and Shoana, I worked on companion dog and anti-hunting training. Both also accompanied me throughout my internships in two different, very differently managed dog day care centers. With Pepe, I spent over two years in training with ReDog for earthquake rubble search and rescue, although I eventually chose not to continue due to personal and health reasons. Sadly, we had to say goodbye to Pepe in early September 2025 due to osteosarcoma. He was the big brother, the silverback, our cuddly bear and gentle giant, our wrestling buddy and so much more. He will forever remain a part of Doggies Place and of my heart.
In 2019 I have successfully completed the training animal care, dogsitting and dogwalking at Certodog.
Doggie's Place Seeland is both controlled by the Cantonal Veterinary Office of Vaud and fully licensed as a dog day care and care facility, as well as approved by the municipality of Avenches.
Of course, I constantly refresh my knowledge with further training and thus ensure that I am always up to date with the latest developments in dog training, care and animal welfare law.
Infrastructure
My dog daycare offers a total of 150 m spread over two and a half floors heated in winter, air-conditioned in summer, and filled with natural daylight throughout. The rooms are designed so that I can divide them into seven individual areas if needed. This way, dogs can be accommodated in pairs or small groups when desired. However, in most cases, all dogs are free to move around the entire building and choose where they feel most comfortable. On the ground floor, there is a secure entrance area (the airlock) where dogs can be handed over calmly and safely. Behind it are the anteroom and the large living room with kitchen, where the dogs usually rest and relax. On the mezzanine floor, there is a large playroom (approx. 40 m) where the dogs can play and romp to their hearts content. The three rooms on the upper floor are individually designed and vary in size, allowing me to adapt flexibly to the dogs different needs.
My fully fenced meadow is located only about 1 km from the dog daycare. We reach it after a ten-minute walk (without detours) or in just two minutes by car. There, the dogs can enjoy a spacious 2,000 m² green area – partly naturally shaded by trees and additionally equipped with sun sails and umbrellas. In summer, colorful wildflowers bloom here, and there are large mown areas and paths where the dogs can safely run, play, and relax.
My VW bus is equipped with custom-made, secure dog crates. In addition, I have a WT dog trailer with four large, insulated, and ventilated compartments. This allows me to take the whole pack on safe, flexible trips and walks anywhere we go.

Services
I offer full-day care and, in exceptional cases, half-day care, always including daily walks. It is important that the dogs come at least once a week. This way, a well-established group can form where every dog knows the others, creating a calm and familiar environment. I adapt the daily routine accordingly. Whether a dog attends several days a week or only comes once a week, my goal is to provide an enriching, species-appropriate, and enjoyable stay. This includes daily walks, swimming trips or snowy adventures in winter, carefree hours on the private play meadow, and very important plenty of rest time. On my fully fenced 2,000 m meadow, the dogs can more or less do what they love: play, sleep, dig, chase grasshoppers here, a dog can simply be a dog. From time to time, I load the whole pack into the bus and take them to a particularly beautiful place, sometimes even far outside my usual area. This keeps the walks exciting and varied for both me and the dogs.
On request, I can help reinforce and/or improve obedience exercises (e.g., heel walking, sit, down, stop, wait, etc.). However, the dog owner must also actively participate and will receive appropriate homework and guidance from me to continue the training at home.
Before and after the walks, the dogs are accommodated either all together or in small groups, depending on their needs. Each guest has the opportunity to retreat, rest, or cuddle with a friend. The midday rest of two and a half to three hours applies to all guests young or old and to me as well.
To keep every dog owner updated about the activities at the daycare and during our walks, I can share photos, videos, and GPS records of our walks via WhatsApp upon request. On my Facebook page, I post at least the group photos every day, and you can also find regular updates and pictures on Instagram.
In addition, I can provide other services in consultation and if possible, such as grooming, bathing or trimming claws. A corresponding surcharge will be communicated in advance.
Share taxi
For those who cannot or prefer not to drive to Avenches, it is possible to drop off their dog in Sugiez or Murten. Every morning and evening, I pick up the dogs at a set meeting point and take them with my professionally equipped transport vehicle to the daycare. My VW bus and the dog trailer are fitted with secure crates of various sizes, ensuring safe transport for all dogs. By prior arrangement, individual dogs can also be picked up at home before 7:45 a.m. and brought back after 5:45 p.m. (Prices for the shared taxi service and additional kilometers can be found in the price list.)
